Hancock Elementary showed dramatic growth in both Reading and Math on the OAT between third grade in 04-05 and fourth grade in 05-06. There was a 21.3 point jump in Reading (42% increase) and a 14.4 point increase in Math (25% increase). This increase is highlighted by Mrs. Bailey’s class in which 15 out of the 20 students passed. This class included 5 students with IEP’s and 3 non-readers in the class. The non-readers increase 1.5 levels in reading over the year, based on the IOWA test of basic skills.
